Deliciously soft and fluffy sourdough cinnamon rolls swirled with brown sugar and cinnamon, perfect for a cozy morning treat.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Mix the sourdough starter with milk, egg, and sugars until well combined.
- Gradually add flour, salt, and cinnamon to the mixture, stirring until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough well until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Place your dough in a warm spot and let it rise for about 60-120 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
- Roll the dough out into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle generously with cinnamon and brown sugar for the filling.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice it into individual rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, nesting them close.
- Pour the heavy cream over the rolls.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a cream cheese icing on top, add after the rolls are cooled. Roll them tightly to maintain good spirals.
