Description

A creamy, cheesy breakfast casserole perfect for lazy brunches and holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread, cubed
  • 1 pound sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 12 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, place the cubed bread evenly.
  2. Top with the cooked sausage and shredded cheese, spreading them out.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, mustard powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and sausage, ensuring all bread is soaked.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) when ready to bake.
  7. Remove the casserole from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving, then garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

This casserole can be prepped the night before, and leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
