Description

Deliciously chewy cookies infused with cocoa and chocolate chips, reminiscent of a warm cup of hot chocolate.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Don’t overmix!
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a refreshing twist, add peppermint candies or a few drops of peppermint extract. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
