- 2 cups peeled and diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar (for topping)
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon (for topping)
- 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl until well combined.
- Mix together the applesauce, vegetable oil, and eggs in another bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until combined. Fold in the diced apples.
- Transfer the batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing it evenly.
- Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon for the topping; sprinkle over the batter and add pecans if using.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.
Notes
