Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the sifted all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls, placing on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Before baking, sprinkle each cookie with flaky sea salt.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden and centers are tender.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best flavor, use high-quality unsalted butter. You can customize the cookies by adding chocolate chips, citrus zest, nuts, or spices.
