A creamy, buttery rice dish infused with the rich flavors of French onion soup, perfect as a comforting side.
Ingredients

- 1 cup long grain white rice (uncooked)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup (condensed)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) beef broth (or water with beef bouillon)
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, sliced into pats
- 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional garnish: chopped parsley or shredded cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease your baking dish.
- Combine the rice, French onion soup, beef broth, and chopped onions (if using) in the baking dish, stirring gently.
- Place the butter slices evenly across the top of the rice mixture.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake uncovered for another 20–25 minutes until the liquid is absorbed and the top is golden.
- Let sit for a few minutes, fluff with a fork, garnish as desired, and serve warm.
Notes
This dish can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the fridge. Add extra baking time when you’re ready to cook.
