Description

A cozy comfort food dish blending the flavors of French onion soup with the nostalgia of Sloppy Joes, perfect for easy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, seasoning with salt and pepper, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  6. Spoon the savory beef mixture onto the burger buns and top with a slice of Swiss cheese.
  7. Cover the pan until the cheese is melty and gooey.
  8. Serve warm with extra napkins at the ready.

Notes

For a zesty BBQ twist, swap out half of the beef broth for BBQ sauce, or add sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor.
