Description

A delightful treat that combines the crispy exterior of churros with the flaky, buttery goodness of croissant dough.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package croissant dough (store-bought)
  • 1 cup cinnamon sugar (equal parts sugar and cinnamon)
  • Filling of choice (such as pastry cream, Nutella, or lemon curd)
  • Oil for frying (if frying) or a method of your choice for baking

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or prepare oil for frying in a deep pot.
  2. Roll out the croissant dough on a lightly floured surface and cut it into triangles or rectangles.
  3. Spoon a generous dollop of your filling of choice onto the smaller end of the dough triangle.
  4. Gently roll the dough up, encasing the filling inside, and shape it into a cruffin by coiling it in a circular fashion and placing it into a muffin mold.
  5. Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or fry for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove from heat and roll the warm cruffins in cinnamon sugar.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

These treats can be made ahead of time and stored for a delightful breakfast surprise. They also freeze well.
